An acne facial here is a working appointment rather than a relaxing one. The aim is to decongest what is there, calm the surrounding skin, and leave you with a home routine that is not fighting the treatment.
What the session contains depends almost entirely on how inflamed your skin is when you arrive. Settled congestion with open comedones is suited to steam, softening and careful extraction. Angry, raised, painful lesions are not, and pressing on those tends to leave marks that outlast the breakout itself.
We treat the appearance of acne-prone skin cosmetically. Acne can also be a medical condition, and persistent, cystic or scarring acne deserves a physician’s opinion alongside anything we do.
What the appointment involves
After a double cleanse, your practitioner examines the skin closely to sort congestion that can be extracted from inflammation that should be left alone.
Softening comes next (warmth, a gentle enzyme or acid step) so that extractions are a matter of lifting rather than forcing. Extractions are done with even pressure and stopped well before the skin protests.
A decongesting or anti-inflammatory mask follows. Where your skin tone and history allow, a laser or facial machine step may be added to target redness or bacteria-prone congestion rather than the individual spot.

If your acne is cystic, painful, scarring, or has not responded to anything you have tried, please see your family doctor or a dermatologist. That is a medical question, not a cosmetic one. We are happy to work alongside their plan once they are comfortable with it.
Congestion that was extracted is gone that day. The broader picture (fewer new breakouts, calmer skin) builds over a series rather than one visit, and depends as much on the home routine as on the appointment.
