EMS: Muscle Toning
EMS uses electrical impulses to prompt muscle contractions in a targeted group, contractions deeper and more sustained than you would typically produce voluntarily. The BlissMax FlexMax platform delivers this through applicators placed over the area.
It is best understood as support for training rather than a substitute for it. Clients who already train and want to push a specific area further tend to get more from it than clients hoping it will replace the work.
Because it acts on muscle rather than fat or skin, it is frequently planned alongside the contouring treatments, which address the other two layers.
How EMS sessions run
Your practitioner confirms the target muscle group and checks your medical history, as EMS is contraindicated in several situations including certain implanted devices and pregnancy.
Applicators are positioned over the muscle group and intensity is increased gradually to a level you can tolerate comfortably. The sensation is of strong, involuntary contraction.
It is delivered as a course of sessions close together, in the way a training block would be structured, and results are judged across that block.
