Standard laser hair removal relies on pigment in the hair to absorb the energy. Hair that is blonde, grey, white or red carries very little of it, which is why those hairs are routinely described as untreatable.
Hair blanching takes a different approach: instead of aiming to destroy the follicle, the goal is to make the remaining hair less visible, so the area reads as smoother and more even.
It is important to be clear about what this is. It is not laser hair removal and does not promise permanent reduction. Your practitioner will set that expectation plainly before you book: this is a cosmetic appearance treatment.
How the treatment is approached
Your practitioner assesses the hair colour, thickness and distribution, and confirms that blanching rather than hair removal is the appropriate approach.
The laser is run at parameters selected for this purpose, passing over the area to address the appearance of the hair rather than targeting the follicle for destruction.
