MMS: Muscle Toning
MMS on the Sculptique platform uses a magnetic field rather than surface electrodes to prompt muscle contraction. Because the field passes through clothing and skin without needing direct electrical contact, the sensation differs from EMS.
Like EMS, it is aimed at the muscle layer and is best used alongside training rather than instead of it. Which of the two your practitioner recommends depends on the area, your comfort, and what you are trying to achieve.
Also like EMS, it is delivered as a block of sessions scheduled relatively close together, and judged across that block.
How MMS differs from EMS
EMS delivers electrical impulses through applicators in contact with the skin. MMS generates a magnetic field that induces contraction without that direct electrical contact, which some clients find more comfortable.
Your practitioner positions the applicator over the target muscle group and builds intensity gradually to a level you can hold comfortably through the session.
The choice between the two platforms is made at the consultation, based on the area, your medical history and which sensation suits you better.
