About Dermamelan
Dermamelan
Dermamelan is a depigmentation method rather than a one-off peel. The in-clinic appointment is only the start of it: a mask is applied and left in place for a set period, then removed at home to your practitioner’s timing.
What follows matters more than the appointment. The home phase runs for months, and the protocol is built on the assumption that you will follow it. Clients who stop early tend to see pigment return, which is why we are deliberately thorough about explaining the commitment before anyone books.
It is used for pigment that does not respond to gentler approaches, particularly melasma-type patches, which are influenced by hormones and heat and are prone to coming back.
How the protocol runs
Your practitioner first establishes that your pigment suits this approach, which includes discussing hormonal factors, medication and how much sun your routine involves.
The mask is applied in clinic in an even layer and stays in place for a period your practitioner specifies. You remove it at home at the stated time and begin the home products immediately.
From there you are in the maintenance phase: a prescribed sequence of products, daily sun protection without exception, and review appointments so the routine can be adjusted as your skin responds.

Benefits of Dermamelan
Dermamelan at our Aldergrove clinic is planned around your skin. Here is what it is designed to do.
- 01Built for stubborn pigmentDesigned for the melasma-type pigment that tends to resist gentler brightening approaches.
- 02Works on the mechanismThe protocol targets pigment production rather than only lifting what is already visible at the surface.
- 03Structured follow-upReview appointments are part of the plan, so the home phase is guided rather than left to guesswork.
Suitability
Who Dermamelan is for
Clients usually ask about this treatment for one of the reasons below. A consultation confirms whether it suits you.
- Melasma-type patches
- Pigment that returns after other treatments
- Hormonal pigmentation
- Blotchy tone across the cheeks and forehead
Only a consultation can confirm this. Skinholic provides cosmetic treatments only and does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. If anything on your skin is changing, painful, bleeding or will not heal, please see your family doctor or a dermatologist first.

Good to know
Frequently asked questions.
The questions clients ask us most about Dermamelan.
They are related protocols from the same family and share the same logic. The difference is in formulation and in how your practitioner matches the protocol to your pigment, your skin’s sensitivity and your history. You will be told which is being recommended for you and why.
It can, particularly with melasma-type pigment, which is influenced by hormones and heat. That is precisely why the maintenance phase and daily sun protection are treated as part of the treatment rather than optional extras.
Most clients have several days of redness, tightness and visible peeling. Your practitioner will describe the likely course for your skin so you can plan around work and anything social.
It can be done year-round, but sun exposure is the main thing that undermines it. If your summer involves a lot of time outdoors, your practitioner may suggest timing it for a quieter period.
