About Cosmelan
Cosmelan
Cosmelan follows the same two-stage logic as Dermamelan: a mask applied in clinic, then a home phase that carries the result forward. Where it differs is in formulation and in the skin it suits best.
It is often the choice for pigment that is more sun-driven and surface-weighted than deeply hormonal, though that distinction is rarely clean in practice and is one of the things your practitioner is actually assessing at the consultation.
As with any depigmentation protocol, the clinic appointment is a small fraction of the work. The months afterwards decide the outcome.
How the protocol runs
Your practitioner assesses the pigment, your skin’s sensitivity and your daily sun exposure, then explains the full timeline before anything is booked.
The mask is applied in an even layer in clinic and left in place for a specified period before you remove it at home and begin the home products.
The home phase then runs with review appointments built in, so the products can be stepped up or eased back depending on how your skin is coping.

Benefits of Cosmelan
Cosmelan at our Aldergrove clinic is planned around your skin. Here is what it is designed to do.
- 01Addresses tone broadlyRather than targeting individual marks, it is designed to even out tone across a whole area.
- 02Works beyond the surfaceThe protocol aims at pigment production, not only at the pigment already visible.
- 03Structured and reviewedFollow-up appointments are part of the plan, so the home phase is guided rather than guessed.
Suitability
Who Cosmelan is for
Clients usually ask about this treatment for one of the reasons below. A consultation confirms whether it suits you.
- Blotchy, uneven tone
- Sun-related pigmentation
- Marks left behind after breakouts
- Pigment across the cheeks and upper lip
Only a consultation can confirm this. Skinholic provides cosmetic treatments only and does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. If anything on your skin is changing, painful, bleeding or will not heal, please see your family doctor or a dermatologist first.

Good to know
Frequently asked questions.
The questions clients ask us most about Cosmelan.
That is a decision for your practitioner after seeing your skin. They are from the same family and follow the same structure; the choice comes down to your pigment pattern, how reactive your skin is, and your history with previous treatments.
It runs for months rather than weeks, and the exact schedule is set for you. Your practitioner lays out the full timeline before you commit, because knowing the length up front is part of deciding whether it suits your life.
Depigmentation protocols are commonly used across a range of skin tones, and the absence of heat or light is part of the reason. Your practitioner still assesses your skin individually and may adjust how the home phase is introduced.
Pigment commonly returns. The home phase is doing a large part of the work, so stopping part-way tends to undo the progress made in the mask phase.
